Chairman
Mick first got involved in Trailquesting in 1991 when his dodgy knees forced him to give up Marathon Running in favour of something more sensible! His outdoor and map reading skills, honed on hill walking and mountaineering, stood him in good stead, and even his first big, heavy bike didn't prevent him getting some decent scores on Cannock Chase in his early days.
Even Mick's nearest and dearest will tell you that he can talk for England, and his main role as MTQ's Chair is to be an advocate for the sport; sharing his skills and experience in running events across the country with new and established TQ organisers. Mick loves Trailquesting and his sole aim is to infect others with that same enthusiasm and joy in the sport. His view is very simple - however you play it - whether you ride to win or just for the fun of it - enjoy the day - that's all that counts.
Administration Manager
Behind every talkative man there's a woman who does, and Jill's no exception! She beavers away quietly in the background making sure that the all important central administration of MTQ runs smoothly and painlessly. Like husband Mick she's been involved with Trailquesting since 1991 and has been running events ever since, so there's not much she hasn't seen and coped with!
From control cards to banking and from handling organisers' everyday queries to building the annual Event Calendar - Jill does it all. As far as Jill's concerned her role is to make it as easy as possible for organisers to run exciting and challenging events safely. She's involved purely for the pleasure of enabling others to enjoy the sport - oh and thanks but no thanks, she'll pass on the opportunity to ride!
Website & Marketing Manager
Having been a lifelong road cyclist, Richard took up mountain biking in 2003 after being inspired by a trip to the rugged Sierra Nevada mountains in Southern Spain. A year later he decided to have a go at the Trailblazers evening Trailquest series on Cannock Chase, and was drawn in by the challenge that having to accurately navigate and route plan added to general mountain biking.
A cycling obsessive, by day Richard is a Director of Marketing and Software Development specialists, Perceptis, who support MTQ by contributing the development of the MTQ Website and the complicated programming to automate the membership, event entry and result publishing processes.
Social Events Manager
Another cycling obsessive, Neil runs his own locally-renowned Market Harborough bike shop George Hall's Cycles - online at 24/7 CycleShop.com - when he's not riding. He's a stalwart of MTQ and will turn his hand to helping out whenever he can. His speciality is in organising MTQ's social events including the Annual Prize Giving Supper.
