A trailquest is a mountain bike orienteering event where the competitors have to navigate from control location to control location, punching a score card at each location. Competitors may ride solo or as a team of two (that must ride together).
Control locations vary in the amount of points they are worth and competitors may use any legal route to ride between them. The rider or team of two who scores the highest number of points within the time limit is the winner.
Trailquesting is an exciting sport that is rapidly growing in popularity. Competitors of all ages and both sexes regularly take part.
You don't have to be super fit and young to do well as route planning and good navigation skills are equally critical.

At the start a colour map is provided which is marked up with the control locations. Competitors are also given a sheet describing precisely what the control is attached to once the correct position has been reached.
Competitors have to navigate to as many control points as they possibly can and ensure they return to the HQ within the time limit - there are score deductions for being late.
To compete in one of our trailquest events you must first register online with us as it is a condition of our insurance policy that all riders are members of Midland Trailquests. If you just turn up on the day you will not be able to ride. Registration is free, does not need to be renewed and takes only a couple of minutes.
To find an event to ride see our comprehensive events calendar. From this you can find full details about the event, enter online or print a pre-filled entry form for postal entry.
